2016 Hawaii Kamuro Club

Dear Mr. Yagi,
The Hawaii Okikamuro Club held their New Years Party on February 20, 2016 at the Jodo Mission of Hawaii.
Members and friends enjoyed photos, shared memories, and even met long lost relatives and friends before having a bento lunch. After lunch, we listened closely to our guest speaker, Professor Manako Ogawa from Ritsumeikan University of Kyoto.
She wrote the book Sea of Opportunity: The Japanese Pioneers of the Fishing Industry in Hawaii. Okikamuro is featured in this book because many fisherman came from the island to Hawaii. It was a very interesting talk and Dr. Ogawa answered questions and stayed to talk to members. We are looking forward to our next gathering.
